Friendly and welcoming.
Attending a new clinic can be a daunting experience, especially if you are not familiar with the procedures of the clinic. We’d like to give you this outline of what normally happens at our Centre so that you feel more at ease when you come. We normally ask our patients to allow between an hour to an hour and a half for the initial consultation.
Firstly…
We’ll start with giving you some paperwork to fill in. This gives Dr Holmes the necessary background information to begin the process of what is determining what is wrong with you. It is important that you answer the questions as honestly and completely as possible to allow us to get an accurate a picture of your health as possible before we start.
You can download the paperwork via the link to the side if you would like to complete it before your appointment. This will enable us to attend to you quicker.
Next….
Dr Holmes will take you into the consulting room and obtain a detailed history of the problem and any other background information that may be relevant. He will then do a thorough examination that will normally include neurological, orthopaedic, chiropractic and physical examination testing. At the conclusion of the examination he may need to request further testing such as blood tests, x-rays, CT or MRI scans, or other specific neurological tests. He will discuss these with you if they are necessary. That will normally conclude the first visit.
Finally…
Following this visit Dr Holmes will take the information obtained and prepare a detailed programme of care specifically for you. It may utilise a number of treatments. (For more information visit our Treatments page.) If you have been referred by another practitioner, Dr Holmes will detail his findings and treatment recommendations in a report to the referring practitioner, which they will normally discuss with you on your next visit with them. For patients who have come to the Centre directly, we will schedule a report consultation when Dr Holmes will sit down and discuss his findings and care recommendations with you. We recommend that you bring a family member or friend with you for this visit as a second pair of ears can often be helpful in recalling what is said!
We try to make the whole experience at our Centre as relaxing and as friendly as possible. We hope you will find our attention to detail and dedication to your health justifies your decision to seek our care.
